VMware Cloud Director Availability is a solution that allows VMware Cloud Director users to migrate their VMs or vApps effortlessly from one VMware Cloud Director platform to another or from a vCenter environment to a VMware Cloud Director platform (and vice versa). This high-performance solution is designed specifically to implement simple, secure disaster recovery plan solutions (DRPs) or to create an L2 Stretch (a solution for extending the local network to another site).

How does
VMware Cloud Director Availability work?

VMware Cloud Director Availability is a Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) solution running on a unified architecture and directly integrated with your VMware Cloud Director service. This solution’s centralised interface makes it easy to use and allows you to set up DRPs displaying personalised RPOs (Recovery Point Objectives) based on the criticality of services.

When should VMware Cloud Director Availability be used?

You have a VMware Cloud Director infrastructure, and you want to implement a DRP on another infrastructure. This solution enables secure and encrypted interconnection between two VMware Cloud Director environments (or a VMware Cloud Director environment and a Vcenter environment).
You have an external VMware Cloud Director infrastructure (or Vcenter environment) and want to migrate your services to a VMware Cloud Director IKOULA infrastructure.
You have a VMware Cloud Director infrastructure and need more resources; this solution allows you to deploy a second platform to create a L2 Stretch and thus extend your existing infrastructure.
